Attended the reception commemorating the 201st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uruguay in New Delhi, hosted by His Excellency Alberto Antonio Guani Amarilla, Ambassador of Uruguay to India. Shri Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, was the Chief Guest.
In his address, Ambassador Guani positioned Uruguay not only as an important partner for India but also as a potential gateway for Indian companies seeking to expand across Latin America.
“It has also consolidated its position as a regional hub for global business services, offering a stable, predictable, and business-friendly environment for Indian companies operating across Latin America,” the Ambassador said, highlighting Uruguay’s institutional stability, legal certainty and skilled talent pool.
Secretary Sibi George spoke about the growing relationship between India and Uruguay and the broader expansion of India’s engagement with Latin America.
The reception brought together ambassadors, diplomats, strategic experts, media professionals, bankers, investors and industry leaders—providing an excellent setting for conversations on the growing economic and diplomatic links between India, Uruguay and Latin America.
Received an autographed copy of Ambassador Guani’s book, Journey in India. Its introduction begins with this description: “India; incredible, hectic, nosy, confusing, historic, beautiful. Out of the four countries I have lived in, New Delhi was the most intriguing.”
