India–Portugal Bilateral Relations

Met His Excellency João Manuel Mendes Ribeiro de Almeida, Ambassador of Portugal to India, for a conversation on the evolving India–Portugal relationship.

We discussed the growing economic and strategic engagement between the two countries, particularly in the context of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, and the new opportunities it could create for trade, investment and business collaboration.

Our conversation also covered the deep historical and cultural links between India and Portugal and the considerable scope for expanding cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties. 

It was useful to hear the Ambassador’s perspective on how the relationship can develop further as India and Europe enter a new phase of economic engagement.
