I recently met His Excellency Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador of Türkiye to India, for a candid discussion on India–Türkiye relations and the evolving regional geopolitical landscape.
Our conversation touched upon the current challenges in bilateral ties following Operation Sindoor, with the Ambassador sharing Türkiye's perspective on recent developments, including Ankara's condemnation of the Pahalgam attack and its assessment of the subsequent diplomatic tensions. We also reflected on the centuries-old historical and cultural links that continue to connect our two countries despite present-day differences.
Beyond the bilateral relationship, we exchanged views on India's engagement with other Asian nations and the strategic shifts shaping an increasingly fractured global order. I also presented the Ambassador with a copy of my new book: Indus Cities to Harsha’s Empire: The Long Arc of India’s Civilisation.
